BP banned from government contracts in U.S.

The Environmental Protection Agency took the action of barring the petroleum giant from doing any contractual bidness with the U.s. in light of the Big Oil company’s dismal record. You can read all about the EPA’s action right here.

Mitt shifts to the right when it comes to talking about energy

That’s right. Stuff like oil drilling, punching holes in Earth for natural gas, building more roads and paving more wildlife habitat, etc. etc. And the cars he talks about now, in fitting for the son of an automobile executive, don’t have to get great mileage. In fact, the more gasoline and petroleum they burn up, the happier he and his Big Oil campaign contributors are. This NY Times piece spells it all out.

Romney plan would expand oil drilling

Mitt is indeed a close buddy of Big Oil and polluters in general. The guy will say anything to get the big bucks needed to buy billboard space in all the so-called “swing” states. The GOP candidate is about as far from the world of real science as a politician could hope to get. Read about the friend of Big Oil.

Big Oil REALLY likes Mitt Romney – really

The data and suppositions in this article are not all that surprising, actually. In any case, Mr. Romney would throw some big subsidies to Big Oil – and Big Coal, too – if elected (or “selected” by the Surpreme Court).

Whose side is the American Farm Bureau on?

Good question. I remember reading decades ago of how this organization was siding with polluters and their friends instead of with real American farmers. The Bureau, I was told, was pretty much an insurance outfit. Read The Nation’s take right here.

Republicans: Drill-now-drill-everywhere legislation

The Republican members of Congress are clearly answerable only to Big Oil and Big Oil’s campaign contributions when it comes to what federal public lands and waters ought to be opened to rapacious oil drilling. Republicans have unveiled a drill-now-drill-everywhere bill to replace Obama’s sensible plan that would allow drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. Never mind the health of fish and wildlife populations and all that other “stuff.” Oil, let’s drill for it now, they say.

New Englanders take stand against Trailbreaker Pipeline and dirty tar sands oil

Here’s a nice recap of the day’s events regarding the proposed pipeline route across northern New  England. One debacle after debacle, IMO.
