Why trees matter

That’s the headline over this op-ed piece from the NY Times, a piece that makes me dream of the trees I planted in the yard of the house in which my late wife and I lived for two decades in Pennsylvania. The species: paw paw, jack pine, eastern larch, eastern white pine, common witchhazel, hawthorn, hackberry, spicebush, winterberry, and more. I hope they live well as I am no longer there to look after them. The answer? Yes, trees do matter, one helluva lot.
