The greening of faith

Whenever I hear or read something about the theme of this LA Times op-ed, I can’t help but remember the pastor of the Catholic church in Conyngham borough, Luzerne County, Pa. As pastor, the priest lived in the rectory which sits all of 100 yards or so from the church, St. John Bosco. Well, more than once I witnessed the priest get into his gas-guzzling Hummer and then drive the vehikle to the church and his reserved parking space out front of the office entrance. That is illustrative of the kind of wastefulness I see every day and have had for at least the past decade in Pennsylvania, in Maryland, in Virginia. in New York State and in a lot of other places, too.
