In bat deaths, a catastrophe in the making?

That seems to be the case that’s shaping up, especially in light of the statistics like those highlighted in this news article about white-nose syndrome. I have good memories of being awakened by a bat attempting to get outside from the bunk room at the Adirondack Mountain Club’s Adirondack Loj back in the late 1980s. And later, I enjoyed watching little brown bats hawking flying insects near our home in northeastern Pennsylvania. In any case, there is a major crisis and the average American suburbanite with a three-car garage and two or three acres of lawn kept green with a chemical-based fertilizer has no clue.
