For timber rattlers, in Vermont and elsewhere, we are the enemy

The “we,” of course, is the human. This piece from the Burlington, VT, paper does a great job of describing the species, the threats to its existence, and more. It all brings to mind a fine afternoon I shared with friends some years ago in Schuylkill County, Pa., visiting a timber rattlesnake colony less than a mile away from strip-mined earth (anthracite coal).
